Contact lens and prescription questions. Does LensesByMail.com verify prescriptions?
Yes. We verify all prescriptions for all contact lens purchases regardless of the country, citizenship or residence of the customer. Why do I need a prescription for cosmetic colored contact lenses that have no power/ vision correction properties?
All contact lenses, including cosmetic or colored contacts, needs to be correctly fitted by an eye care practitioner to make sure that they are suitable for you to wear. Why does it say “colored contacts without prescription” on some of your webpages if you need a prescription for all contact lenses?
Those texts are referring to the fact that we offer “plano” contact lenses without visual correction as some customers refer to “plano” contact lenses as contact lenses “without prescription”. How will you contact my eye care practitioner?
We will normally send him a fax with your name, address, date of birth and details of your contact lens order. He has eight business hours to respond and verify if your prescription is valid or not. If he responds he will either tell us that you have a valid prescription for your order; or he will tell us that your prescription is different and will advise us of the correct prescription; or he will not respond in the timeframe. If your eye care practitioner does not respond within the eight business hour time-frame we are still able to assume that your prescription matches your order and we are then able to ship your order immediately after this time. What if I don’t want you to contact my eye care practitioner? What if I don’t want LensesByMail.com to have to wait eight business hours for my eye care practitioner to respond before processing my order?
Immediately after placing your order you should send us a copy of your prescription by fax to the following fax number 1-(800) 837-6714 or by e-mail to sales@lensesbymail.com quoting your order number that you see on your confirmation screen and is contained in our ‘confirmation of successful order’ e-mail. What if I do not have / have lost my prescription?
Your eye care practitioner who examined you has a duty to provide you with a copy of your prescription free of charge (he may, of course, have charged you for your examination). The eye care practitioner is not allowed to withhold this from you, just as he is not able to insist that you buy your contact lenses from him, just because you have used him to have your eyes tested. Do I have to send you my prescription each time I place an order?
If you have previously sent us a copy of your prescription, and the prescription is still valid (most prescriptions are valid for one year) and your order is for the same type and power of contact lenses, then LensesByMail.com will process your order without any further information from you or your eye care practitioner. Will I receive the same lenses my eye care practitioner prescribed when I order from you?
Yes. The lenses we deliver are exactly the same lenses sold to eye care practitioners and opticians worldwide who then dispense them to their patients. The only difference is that we offer these lenses at big savings and without the hassle. I have never worn contact lenses before. Can I order lenses from you anyway?
You will need to visit your local optician/eye care practioner to get colored contacts fitted. Once you have had this examination you will get a prescription which you need to send to us before we can dispatch your order. Non-prescription colored and special effect contacts can only be sold where legal. |
